In recognition of the complexity of energy and its impact on all aspects of society and the environment, the University of Michigan's energy institute works closely with other organizations across the campus. These organizations have expertise in areas such as public policy, sustainability, the environment, systems analysis, entrepreneurship and science and engineering.
The energy institute jointly sponsors workshops as well as research grants with many of the following organizations:
| Business Engagement Center |
| The Business Engagement Center provides companies with a gateway to the University of Michigan's vast resources, including research discoveries, new technology, faculty expertise, student and alumni talent, continuing education programs, and strategic giving opportunities.

| The Environmental Law and Policy Program at the University of Michigan promotes scholarship, teaching, and interdisciplinary programs to address the myriad challenges facing our global environment.

| The Graham Institute serves as the university's "front door" for discovering and engaging in the far reaching environmental sustainability activity that permeates our university.

| Innovation Economy |
| The Innovation Economy web site provides a portal to the many economic development activities across the university’s large and decentralized campus. The site is intended to give business partners, civic leaders, government officials, and others a comprehensive and coherent view of university services and programs, and encourage partnerships and collaboration.

| The Rackham Graduate School works with faculty, students and staff across the University of Michigan to promote excellence in graduate education for over 7,000 students in 104 doctoral and 90 master's programs.

| The School of Natural Resources and Environment's objective is to contribute to the protection of the Earth's resources and the achievement of a sustainable society. Through research, teaching and outreach, faculty, staff and students are devoted to generating knowledge and developing policies, techniques and skills to help practitioners manage and conserve natural and environmental resources to meet the full range of human needs on a sustainable basis.

| In an effort to share sustainability efforts with the U-M community and beyond, the Office of Occupational Safety and Environmental Health and the Graham Environmental Sustainability Institute, with the help of the U-M Office of Vice President for Communications, formed a Campus Sustainability Committee. |
