Research

Jamie Phillips is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with expertise in optoelectronic device applications of compound semiconductors and complex oxides.

One of the research thrusts of his group is the study of ZnO and related wide bandgap II-VI compound semiconductors, which show tremendous potential for light emitters and detectors spanning the visible and UV spectral regions. These devices may provide breakthrough technologies for solid state lighting and solar cells.

In addition to experimental efforts in these devices, his group has developed advanced modeling capabilities for optoelectronic devices, which includes current investigations of optimizing light trapping in thin film solar cells.

Jamie Phillips is a MMPEI Faculty Fellow.
