Anna Stefanopoulou
Anna G. Stefanopoulou obtained her Diploma (1991, Nat. Tech. Univ. of Athens, Greece) in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and her Ph.D. (1996, Univ. of Michigan) in Electrical Engineering.
Dr. Stefanopoulou is presently a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan. She was an Assistant Professor (1998-2000) at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Technical Specialist (1996-1997) at Ford Motor Company.
She is an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Control System Technology since 2002, was elected a member (2006) of the Board of Governors IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS), was Chair (2001-1999) and Co-Chair (1999-1997) of the Transportation Panel in ASME Dynamics, Systems, and Control Division (DCSD).
She is recipient of the 2005 ASME Dynamic Systems and Control Division Outstanding Young Investigator and 2005 Henry Russel, the 2002 Ralph Teetor SAE Educational awards. She has received best paper awards in the 2006 International Symposium on Advanced Vehicle Control, 2004 IFAC Symposium on Mechatronic Systems, and the 2003 IEEE Transactions on Control System Technology.
Her research interests are in dynamics, model-based estimation, and multivariable control of internal combustion engines, fuel cells and fuel processing, He current projects are in modular powertrain controllers, iterative learning for variable valve actuators, constrained optimization for variable geometry turbo-charging and electric boosting, detection and adaptation for fuel-flexible combustion, real-time estimation of water dynamics in PEM fuel cells, control of hydrogen reformers (CPOX), observers for fuel processors, control and communication limitations for grid-connected fuel cells, optimization and control architecture for all-electric vehicles.
Anna Stefanopoulou is a MMPEI Faculty Fellow.
